Finest Imaginary

Kim Lawler aka Finest Imaginary is going to be selling at handmade for the first time in May. I've seen her work at Reetsweet fairs and am a big fan. She's got a great range of work, from laser cut jewellery to screen-printed stationary and even coasters! Here's a few of my favourite picks from her etsy store...

Handmade is on May 12th at Wharf Chambers. Facebook event page here

shop til you drop!

There are lots of great fairs coming up in and around Leeds over the next month or so, here's our pick...

Reetsweet's Easter Shopping Fair TOMORROW (Saturday 7th April) at the Corn Exchange. There's always a great range of crafts at Reetsweet and by the looks this'll be a corker. Facebook event page here, and check out the Reetsweet blog here

Flea Market and Craft Bazaar at Wharf Chambers, Saturday 14th April

This looks like a really interesting event, with a mixture of craft and jumble sale stalls, sounds like the perfect place to pick up a bargain! The facebook event page is here

There's also a craft fair at the Heart Centre in Headingley on 14th April, I can't find an image for this one but it's free and listed on the Heart Centre website here

The 4th Leeds Alternative Comics Fair, Saturday 28th April

I've never managed to make it along to one of these, but it looks like a really great event and I'm looking forward to having a look this time around. The organisers are having a stall at the next handmade, so I'm dying for a sneak peak of what kind of comics, zines and hadnmade goodness they've got on offer. Facebook event page is here

And then it's time for May's handmade! Facebook event page here, can't wait!

Best of British!

The craft world is going crazy for British nostalgia themed stuff, in celebration of the Jubilee and this summer's London Olympics. To be honest I'm not crazy about London, and this summer I'll be busy having a baby, but I'm no fool...this is a great commercial opportunity and I've jumped aboard the wagon! Last year's Royal Wedding may have been a warm-up, as the range and quality of handmade goodness surrounding the jubilee/London is amazing this year. Including some of the sellers at May's handmade; here's a selection...

poster

Kristyna Baczynski has done an amazing poster for our next event:

I love the bobbins and ball of wool! Kristyna will be selling her wares at the fair, she's got some really cute comics and prints so I'm really happy to welcome her to the handmade family. Look at this oragami set...

May

I'm very excited to say that I'm going to be holding a fair at my favourite Leeds venue, Wharf Chambers. Back when it was the common place I had many a merry time with it's BYOB and "I feel like I'm in someone's basement" feel, and now that it's had a face-lift it's much less grimey but with all the same DIY charm. We're hoping for a family friendly event in celebration of my own pregnancy, so bring a baby along!

There will be cake!

new to handmade

The craft fair at the university the week before last was great, it was nice to see lots of handmade regulars selling alongside reetsweet's crafers. Two girls new to handmade were selling at the fair, and will make their handmade debut on Sunday at our Christmas fair. Luckily I've got a few snaps from the fair to share...

The first is Jodie Anna, who makes pretty jewellery using lovely vintage patterns and images of whimsical delights. I love her sewing machine brooches.

And secondly is Rebecca Slow, who makes a huge range of handmade goodies. My favourite items on show at the fair were her jam jar covers, which is such a great idea, and badges and brooches using vintage fabric.
